James Hall Managing Director
James began his career as a software engineer developing simulation and training systems for both UK and foreign military. In 1996 he undertook the first of a series
of software development roles in mobile handset development (UMTS/GSM/GPRS)
which has spanned most of the intervening period to the present. James
built up a successful business in the late 1990’s, and worked as
Software Group Manager for one of the top 5 new media agencies in the UK
from 2000 to 2001, before returning to mobile telecoms software
development. He first encountered the TETRA open source product when he
joined Software Radio Technology in a software development role in
December 2005, bringing his extensive knowledge of mobile
telecommunications technologies and sound engineering principles to the
team. He rose to the position of Director of Development by the end of
2006, where he was responsible for restructuring the development team to
improve productivity and quality, while reducing total headcount.

Neil Turner Chief Technical Officer
Neil brings a wealth of experience in real time software development. He has over 15 years of
development experience with a wide range of knowledge in both mobile
phone technologies (UMTS/GSM/GPRS) and IP networking. He spent 12 years
at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) from the mid-80’s until the
late-90’s where he started as a hardware engineer before moving into
network software working on Digital’s DECnet/OSI and a number of their
standalone routing products. He then spent 4 years at Ascend/Lucent
developing routing protocols for their large ‘Cisco-beating’ IP router.
He then made the switch into the world of mobile phones spending 3 years
at Samsung Electronics Research Institute (SERI) developing a dual mode
UMTS/GSM/GPRS protocol stack. He joined the TETRA software team in July
2006, and took over as Protocol Stack Team Leader in November 2006 when
all software development was brought in house.
